BREAKING: House Democrat Learns Prison Sentence for Attacking ICE Agents
SPRINGFIELD, MA — A massive scandal has erupted inside the administration of Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey, a prominent Democrat frequently floated as a potential 2028 presidential candidate.
LaMar Cook, the deputy director of Healey’s western Massachusetts office since 2023, has been arrested and charged in connection to a staggering cocaine trafficking syndicate. Authorities allege the high-level political staffer used a state government building as a receiving hub for multi-kilogram shipments of narcotics.
THE COCAINE TRAFFICKING OPERATION
The 45-year-old Democratic aide was taken into custody following a targeted traffic stop, days after law enforcement executed a "controlled delivery operation" that caught him red-handed. Cook has officially been charged with trafficking over 200 grams of cocaine, illegal possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
In total, investigators have linked a staggering 21 kilograms (over 46 pounds) of suspected cocaine to the ongoing probe.
NEWARK, NJ — A House Democrat is staring down the barrel of a 17-year prison sentence. Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) appeared in federal court on Tuesday, fighting a three-count indictment that accuses her of physically attacking federal officers during a chaotic clash at an ICE detention facility.
Prosecutors allege that McIver "slammed" her forearm into an ICE agent and struck another officer while trying to interfere with an arrest. The Congresswoman, however, claims she is the victim of a political purge to "end wokeness."
"SLAMMED" INTO AGENT
The charges stem from a May incident where McIver, along with Reps. Rob Menendez and Bonnie Watson Coleman, visited the Newark facility for an oversight inspection. When Newark Mayor Ras Baraka attempted to join them and was arrested for trespassing, chaos ensued.
According to prosecutors, McIver physically intervened. They allege she "slammed" her forearm into an ICE agent, grabbed him to restrain him, and struck another officer as she tried to force her way back into the secure area.
"Hearing prosecutors say I could get 17 years in jail for showing up to do my job... it is stressful," McIver wrote on X. "Some nights are sleepless."
"DAYS OF WOKE ARE OVER"
McIver’s defense team is arguing that the prosecution is "retaliatory and politically motivated," citing President Donald Trump’s comments on the case. Trump notably declared that the "days of woke are over."
Her attorney, Paul Fishman, claimed, "She was charged with something she never would’ve been charged with if she was a Republican."
He attempted to argue that her actions were covered by the Constitution’s Speech or Debate Clause because she was performing "official legislative duties." Judge Jamel Semper appeared skeptical, questioning whether an alleged assault outside a facility gate could possibly be considered "congressional business."
VIDEO EVIDENCE LOOMS
While the defense claims McIver was "shoved" first, prosecutors say they have the receipts. They plan to rely on surveillance and body camera footage showing a "scuffle lasting just over a minute" to prove their case.
However, the judge did raise concerns about "fact-free" social media posts from the Department of Homeland Security, some of which claimed lawmakers "stormed" the gate or linked the incident to Antifa. Prosecutors confirmed those posts are being removed.
