Chapter 10 - Where True Royalty Lies

The evening sun was setting over the quiet backyard of Margaret Whitmore’s estate.
The grand stone patio, once the scene of tension and confrontation, was now arranged with a long, beautiful wooden table covered in simple white linen, fresh autumn flowers, and glowing candles.
There were no caterers in formal vests, no luxury gold-dusted cupcakes, and no designer status contests.
Around the table sat Elena, Mark, Mia, Margaret, Thomas the butler, Sarah from the hospital, and Julian Thorne. Even Richard, Vanessa, and their children had been invited for dessert—a quiet, symbolic gesture of a family slowly healing its wounds from the ground up.
Mia was sitting at the center of the table, wearing her favorite blue dress, her silver butterfly clip shining in her curls. On her plate sat a giant piece of homemade chocolate cake.
"Great-Grandma," Mia asked, leaning over to Margaret. "Is this the main table?"
Margaret smiled, her dark eyes filled with endless warmth and deep peace. She reached over, gently patting Mia’s small hand.
"My sweet child," Margaret said softly, her voice carrying across the quiet garden. "Wherever your mother sits... that is always the main table."
Elena looked across the table at her husband, who smiled back at her with eyes full of love. She felt the cool autumn breeze, listened to her daughter’s joyful laughter, and felt a deep, unshakeable sense of peace settle over her heart.
She had not sought wealth. She had not sought power. She had simply stood up for her child and held fast to her integrity when the world tried to make her feel small.
And in doing so, the "lowly nurse" had not only conquered a empire of greed—she had given her family something far more valuable than millions of dollars.
She had given them a soul.
As the stars began to twinkle in the clear night sky above Chicago, Mia picked up her fork, raised her glass of apple juice, and giggled.

"A toast!" Mia announced proudly, standing up on her chair. "To hard work, dinosaurs, and my awesome nurse mommy!"
Everyone at the table raised their glasses, their laughter ringing out into the warm, peaceful night air, echoing far beyond the high stone walls of the estate.
