Chapter 8 - The Fall of the Valentis

The breach at the penthouse was the final line crossed.

By sunrise the next morning, the Moretti syndicate had mobilized every soldier, every informant, and every asset in the tri-state area.

Dante did not hide behind his lawyers. He did not file police reports.

Within forty-eight hours, every warehouse, front business, and gambling den owned by the Valenti family across New York and New Jersey was raided and shut down. Julian Valenti was intercepted at JFK Airport trying to flee to Italy with five million dollars in stolen cash, handed over directly to federal authorities with a mountain of unassailable evidence linking him to domestic terrorism and murder.

Don Carmine Valenti, sitting broken and helpless in his estate in Long Island, realized his empire had vanished overnight.

On a rainy Thursday evening, Dante walked into Carmine’s private study alone.

He wore a dark suit, his hands tucked into his pockets, his expression utterly unreadable.

Carmine looked up from his wheelchair, his yellowed eyes filled with defeat. “Are you going to kill me, Dante?”

Dante stood by the fireplace, looking down at the old man.

“No, Carmine,” Dante said quietly. “Death is too clean. You are going to spend the rest of your miserable life in a maximum-security medical facility, stripped of every dollar, every property, and every name you ever built.”

Dante set a document on the desk.

“This is the total surrender of all Valenti assets to the Moretti Educational Foundation,” Dante explained. “Sign it, or your son spends forty years in Sing Sing.”

Carmine’s hands trembled as he signed the paper, his legacy ending with a quiet scratch of a pen.

Dante took the paper, turned around, and walked out into the rain, leaving the old world behind forever.
