When Samuel opened it, he stopped speaking for almost ten seconds.
That was rare.

Grace sat across from him.
“What is it?” she asked.
He didn’t answer immediately.
Then slid the document across the table.
“Something that shouldn’t exist.”
She read.

Grace looked up slowly.
“He didn’t know,” she said.
Samuel nodded.
“No.”
A pause.
“And that’s why he’s panicking.”

That evening, Miranda Sterling arrived uninvited.
She didn’t sit.

Grace opened it.
And froze.

Offshore holding discrepancies.
And one name repeated across accounts:

Grace looked up sharply.
Samuel leaned forward.
