Marcus finally saw her again three days later.
Not in private.
Not in apology.
In public.
At the Sterling Global board summit.
And she was not alone.
Elara walked into the glass tower conference hall in a white tailored suit.
Not expensive in a visible way.
Expensive in a way that did not require validation.
Behind her followed four board executives.
And one legal advisor Marcus recognized immediately.
Because that man had once denied Marcus a $400 million acquisition deal.
And now he stood behind Elara.
Not Marcus.
Marcus rose from his seat.
“Elara,” he said sharply. “We need to talk.”
She stopped.
Looked at him.
No emotion.
No tension.
Just distance.
“You already said everything publicly,” she replied.
Marcus stepped closer.
“That wasn’t real,” he said quickly. “That was a misunderstanding. A moment—”
Elara tilted her head slightly.
“A moment?” she repeated softly.
Then she nodded.
“I agree.”
Marcus relaxed slightly.

Because she added:
“It was the moment you revealed you never understood what you married.”
Silence spread through the room.
Board members watching.
Executives silent.
Khloe standing near the back, suddenly very still.
Marcus lowered his voice.
“You’re destroying everything we built.”
Elara’s expression did not change.
“No,” she said calmly.
“You’re discovering what was never yours.”
