CHAPTER 6 — THE DAY I LEARNED HOW TO LOVE AGAIN

Two weeks later, Clara came home.

Careful.

Slow.

Alive.

The apartment felt different now.

Not because it changed.

But because I had.

She sat on the couch, one hand resting on her stomach.

Still protective.

Still careful.

But no longer alone.

I sat beside her.

Quietly.

Carefully.

Like someone afraid of breaking something already fragile once before.

“I almost destroyed everything,” I said.

She looked at me gently.

“But you didn’t,” she replied.

That was the truth.

I had almost lost her—not because of what she did.

But because of what I imagined.

I placed my hand over hers on her stomach.

A faint movement answered.

A kick.

Real.

Alive.

Clara smiled faintly.

“He’s still here,” she whispered.

I nodded.

“I am too,” I said.

And for the first time since that night—

there was no fear in the room.

Only truth.

And something stronger than suspicion.

May you like

Trust rebuilt in silence.

END — HAPPY ENDING
