Chapter 4 - The Drone Footage Goes Viral

While the financial execution was crippling Charles Vance’s empire, the public execution of their reputation was just beginning.
At 1:00 AM, my media relations team made a crucial discovery. The drone operator hired to film the wedding ceremony was an independent contractor who had been utterly disgusted by how Evelyn and Charles had treated my mother.
Without any prompt or payment from me, he had uploaded the raw, high-definition drone footage of the incident to his personal social media account, accompanied by a caption: “Rich family humiliates groom’s mother at high-society wedding. Watch the groom walk away.”
The video was explosive.
Within three hours, the clip had accumulated over thirty million views across major platforms. The clear audio captured Evelyn’s cruel laughter, her infamous line—"Maybe I should wash the poverty off her"—and Charles’s booming mockery of my mother. It also captured the quiet, dignified moment when I removed my wedding ring, handed it back, and promised to destroy everything they owned before dawn.
The internet erupted with fury.
By 2:30 AM, thousands of enraged comments flooded Vance International’s official business pages.
> "Boycott Vance International! Cruel, arrogant bullies!" > "The groom is an absolute hero for protecting his mother!" > "Evelyn Vance is a real-life villain. She deserves everything coming to her!"
Major retail brands that carried Vance International products began issuing emergency public statements announcing the immediate termination of their contracts, citing a breach of moral conduct clauses.
Inside a luxury hotel lobby where Charles and Evelyn had been forced to seek shelter after being evicted from their estate, Evelyn sat staring at her tablet screen in absolute horror. Her personal social media accounts were receiving thousands of messages of condemnation per minute. Her former high-society friends were blocking her number one by one.
"Dad..." Evelyn sobbed hysterically, dropping her phone onto the plush carpet. "Everyone hates us! My brand deals are gone! The charity board stripped me of my position! My friends won't answer my calls!"
Charles was slumped on a velvet sofa, looking twenty years older than he had that afternoon. His phone was ringing nonstop from news journalists, creditors, and angry board members demanding his resignation.
"It's over..." Charles whispered, his eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. "He didn't just break us financially... he erased us from society."
Suddenly, Evelyn’s eyes flashed with a desperate, dark fury. "No! We can fight back! We can claim he assaulted us! We can say he staged the video to ruin your company!"

"Evelyn, shut up!" Charles snapped weakly. "He owns the banks, he owns the debt, and he has the raw footage! We have nothing left!"
"I have one thing left," Evelyn whispered bitterly, picking up her phone to call a notorious tabloid journalist. "If he wants to ruin my life, I'll burn his name to the ground."
