Chapter 10 - The Promise of Tomorrow

The wedding was small, private, and held at the old cabin in the Adirondacks—the place where we had found the truth, and the place where we had found each other again.

Only our closest friends were there: Julian Vance, who served as my best man, Dr. Aris, and Marcus, who stood guard not out of fear, but out of love for the family he had helped save.

The triplets, now ten months old and crawling enthusiastically, were the guests of honor. Lucas and Henry wore tiny, matching tuxedos, while Clara wore a beautiful white lace dress that matched her mother’s.

As we stood before the fireplace, the crackling of the logs the only music in the quiet mountain afternoon, we exchanged our vows.

"I promise to protect you," I said, looking into Caroline's eyes. "To cherish you, and to never let the noise of the world drown out the music of our family. I am no longer the king of concrete, Caroline. I am simply a man who loves you."

"And I promise to stand by you," Caroline replied, her voice steady and warm. "To build a home with you, and to remind you every day that the strongest foundations aren't made of stone, but of love."

As the minister declared us husband and wife, I pulled Caroline into my arms, the applause of our small group of friends echoing through the warm cabin.

After the ceremony, we walked out onto the porch, looking out over the frozen lake. The air was cold, but my chest felt warmer than it ever had in my thirty-eight years.

Lucas, Henry, and Clara were being held by Julian and Marcus, their laughter ringing out in the quiet mountain air. I looked down at my hands, then at Caroline’s, and finally at our children.

The dimples on their tiny knuckles were no longer a symbol of a stolen past. They were a promise—a promise that no matter how hard the storm, family would always find its way home.

We had built an empire, but as I looked at my wife and my children, I knew that the greatest thing I had ever created was this simple, beautiful moment.
