Chapter 6 - The Freezing of the Empire

The following Monday, Grace Parker officially triggered the penalty clauses of the Parker-Bennett Sovereign Trust.

In a small, windowless office at the Davidson County Courthouse, Daniel Carter sat opposite a judge, presenting the certified forensic audit reports, the documentation of Robert’s physical assault on Noah, and the recorded harassment campaigns.

The judge, a no-nonsense woman named Judge Evelyn Vance, reviewed the file with a grim expression.

“This is one of the most egregious cases of family exploitation and financial elder abuse—except in this case, it’s parent-on-child abuse—that I’ve ever seen,” Judge Vance said, signing her name with a sharp, decisive stroke. “Motion granted. The temporary restraining orders are now permanent. All assets associated with the Parker-Bennett Sovereign Trust are hereby frozen and transferred to the sole custody of the Trustee, Grace Parker.”

Within hours, the financial reality of the Bennett family changed forever.

Patricia Bennett was at an upscale boutique in Green Hills, attempting to purchase a three-thousand-dollar designer handbag to soothe her frayed nerves. She handed her black American Express card to the young sales clerk with her usual, arrogant air.

The clerk slid the card through the reader.

Declined.

The clerk frowned, trying again.

Declined.

“I’m sorry, Mrs. Bennett,” the clerk said politely. “The card is being declined by the merchant processor.”

“That’s impossible!” Patricia snapped, her face turning a deep, embarrassed red. “There is no limit on that card! It’s a corporate account! Try it again!”

“I did, ma'am. It’s stating the account has been closed by the primary administrator.”

Patricia’s phone began to buzz in her hand. It was an automated text alert from her bank:

ALERT: All accounts ending in -4402, -8911, and -0092 have been frozen due to a legal hold order. For more information, contact your primary trust administrator.

Patricia dropped her purse, her breath catching in her throat.

She ran out of the boutique, her heart hammering, and climbed into her luxury SUV. She turned the key, but instead of the engine roaring to life, the digital dashboard displayed a cold, blue message:

VEHICLE IMMOBILIZED BY ADMINISTRATIVE HOLD. CONTACT VEHICLE OWNER FOR RECOVERY.

Patricia sat in the silent, dead vehicle, her hands gripping the leather steering wheel as a cold, terrifying realization settled into her bones.

They had nothing.

No money. No credit cards. No cars.

Every single cent they had spent, every luxury they had enjoyed, had been owned by the very trust they had tried to steal from Grace. And now, the faucet had been turned completely off.
