Chapter 10 - The Dawn of Light

The wedding of Elena Vance and Dr. Marcus Thorne was held on the grand terrace of The House of Glass on a brilliant, warm spring afternoon.
There were no cameras, no media reporters, and no high-society sycophants. The guest list was small and intimate: fifty people who had supported us, loved us, and stood by us through our darkest hours.
Sarah Jenkins was there, looking radiant and healthy, serving as one of my maid of honors. Samuel Reid stood beside Marcus as his best man. The children from the St. Jude Pediatric Rehabilitation Center had sent a massive, hand-painted banner covered in colorful handprints and sweet messages that hung proudly near the entrance.
I stood behind the glass doors of the master suite, wearing a breathtaking, minimalist silk gown that caught the afternoon light like liquid silver.
I looked at my reflection in the glass. The pale, trembling woman who had lain helpless in a medical bed two years ago was gone forever. Standing in her place was a woman of supreme power, restored health, and unshakeable joy.
The acoustic guitar began to play a soft, beautiful melody outside.
The double glass doors swung open.
I stepped onto the terrace, walking down the aisle paved with white flower petals.
At the end of the aisle stood Marcus, dressed in a sharp black suit, his eyes shining with tears of absolute joy as he watched me walk toward him.
When I reached the altar, Marcus took my hands in his. His grip was warm, strong, and steady.
The officiant smiled, looking at our gathered friends.
“We are here today to celebrate a union born not of convenience, but of deep resilience, mutual honor, and unyielding love,” the officiant spoke. “Elena and Marcus have shown us that light will always pierce through the deepest darkness, and that a heart built on truth can never be broken.”
Marcus looked into my eyes, his voice rich with emotion as he spoke his vows:
“Elena, you are my inspiration, my partner, and my home. I promise to stand by your side through every season, to cherish your strength, to honor your mind, and to build a life filled with laughter, truth, and light. I love you, completely and forever.”
I smiled, my heart overflowing with profound peace as I recited my vows:
“Marcus, when my world was dark, you helped me see the light. You proved to me that true love doesn't demand submission—it offers freedom. I give you my hand, my heart, and my future, knowing that together, we are unstoppable. I love you.”
“By the power vested in me,” the officiant announced with a broad smile, “I now pronounce you husband and wife! Marcus, you may kiss your bride!”
Marcus pulled me into his arms, dipping me gently as he kissed me under the brilliant, golden rays of the afternoon sun.
The crowd erupted into joyous cheers, throwing white flower petals into the air.

As we walked back up the aisle together, hand in hand, laughing under the open sky, I looked up at the vast, endless blue above us.
The windows were open. The light was everywhere. And the nightmare had finally turned into the most beautiful morning of my life.
