Chapter 10 - A HEAVEN OF HER OWN

Three years after the day boiling water changed her life forever.
The morning air in the coastal town was sweet with the scent of wild jasmine and ocean salt.
Serena stood in the sunlit kitchen of her cliffside home, wearing her favorite comfortable leggings and a soft oversized sweater, holding a steaming mug of fresh coffee. Her laptop sat open on the kitchen island, displaying a confirmation email for a major international humanitarian project her foundation was funding in East Africa.
The front door opened, and Julian walked in, carrying a large bundle of freshly cut sunflowers from the local farmer's market. He set them in a porcelain vase on the counter, leaning over to kiss Serena gently on the cheek.
"Good morning, brilliant CEO," Julian teased softly.
"Good morning, master architect," Serena laughed, leaning into his embrace.
At thirty-four years old, Serena Walsh was completely free.
She had rebuilt her life from the ground up, not by seeking revenge, but by establishing unbreakable boundaries, demanding justice, and refusing to let toxic people define her identity.
Beverly Walsh had served her eighteen-month prison sentence and was now living a quiet, lonely life in a small rural town, forgotten by the high-society circles she had once tried so desperately to impress. Wesley remained struggling in entry-level employment, forever carrying the weight of his own cowardly choices.
Serena took a slow sip of her coffee, looking out through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows at the endless blue horizon of the Pacific Ocean.

She was no longer the woman who suffered in silence to keep a false peace. She was a woman who owned her house, her fortune, her mind, and her heart.
And as the warm morning sun filled her kitchen with brilliant golden light, Serena knew, with absolute certainty, that she was finally home.
