Chapter 10 - The Silk of Carbonara

Two years later.
The grand lawn of the Hale estate was covered in a beautiful white tent, decorated with hundreds of white roses and green ivy.
The summer sun was shining bright over Lake Michigan, the water a brilliant, sparkling blue.
The guest list was small—only family, close friends, and the loyal staff who had stood by them through the dark days. Mrs. Whitaker sat in the front row, wearing her best Sunday dress, a handkerchief pressed to her eyes as she wept happy tears.
Theo and Lily walked down the aisle first.
Lily wore a beautiful white flower-girl dress, her curly hair adorned with a crown of roses, while Theo looked dapper in a miniature version of Victor’s navy suit. They held hands, throwing white petals onto the grass with serious, focused expressions.
Mason, Cole, and Ryder stood at the altar beside Victor, their faces clean, their suits immaculate, looking like three proud little knights guarding their father.
Then came Clara.
She was stunning in a simple, elegant ivory silk gown that celebrated her curves, her dark waves pinned back with a vintage diamond comb Victor had given her. She walked with her chin held high, her green eyes shining with a love that had redefined her entire world.
When she reached the altar, Victor took her hands. His fingers, once known only for their cold, unyielding power, were warm and completely steady.
The priest smiled, raising his hands.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife."
Victor pulled Clara into his arms, his lips meeting hers in a passionate, deep kiss that signaled the absolute end of their long winter.
The crowd cheered, and all five children ran forward, throwing their arms around their parents’ legs, their happy laughter echoing over the quiet lake.

The dishes had been washed, the chaos had been organized, and the storm had passed.
They were finally, beautifully home.
