Chapter 10 - The Friendly Lion

That evening, as the golden sunset turned the Boston sky into shades of soft violet and amber, the estate was quiet once again.

The guests had departed, leaving the long, stone-paved terrace filled with the lingering scent of fresh roses and roasted vanilla.

Upstairs, in the grand master suite, three-year-old Lily was fast asleep in her giant bed, clutching her wooden bear, her yellow dress neatly hung in the mahogany wardrobe.

On the second-floor balcony overlooking the illuminated garden ponds, Nathaniel and Grace stood together near the carved stone railing.

Grace wore a comfortable cream silk robe, her hair falling softly over her shoulders. Nathaniel stood behind her, his broad arms wrapped comfortably around her waist, pulling her back against his chest, keeping her warm against the cool evening air.

Grace rested her head against his shoulder, looking out at the city lights twinkling in the distance.

"What are you thinking about, Mrs. Callaway?" Nathaniel whispered into her hair, his lips softly touching her temple.

Grace reached down, her fingers tracing the smooth platinum wedding band on his hand.

"I'm thinking about four years ago," Grace said softly. "When I came to this house with two suitcases, a crying baby, and twenty dollars in my pocket. I thought this mansion was a cold, scary place."

Nathaniel smiled, kissing her shoulder gently. "And now?"

Grace turned in his arms, wrapping her hands around his neck, looking up into his handsome, noble face—the face of the billionaire who had burned down a social empire, destroyed a corrupt family, and spent millions of dollars just to make her daughter smile.

"Now," Grace murmured, rising on her tiptoes to kiss his lips, "it’s the place where the lion lives."

Nathaniel let out a low, happy laugh, pulling her flush against his heart.

"A friendly lion?" he asked, his grey eyes sparkling with love.

"The friendliest lion in the world," Grace whispered.

And there, under the quiet starlight of Boston, the billionaire held his wife tight in his arms—his sanctuary built, his family whole, and their future forever secured in unbroken, radiant love.
