Chapter 7 - The Confrontation on the Tarmac

Sheikh Tariq stepped smoothly in front of Lucía and Daniel, his posture radiating an absolute, chilling aristocratic coldness.

“Mr. Garza,” Tariq said, his voice dropping into a register that made the temperature in the lounge feel like it had plummeted below freezing. “You are trespassing in a private aviation terminal. I suggest you turn around before my security detail forgets their diplomatic restraint.”

Garza kept smiling, though his eyes darted nervously toward the bulk of the bodyguards. “Now, now, Excellency, let’s not be hasty. There’s no need for international incidents. I only came to speak with Ms. Al-Masri regarding a profound misunderstanding over her late father’s property titles in the Levant.”

“There is nothing to discuss,” Lucía said, stepping out from behind Tariq’s shoulder. Her voice didn't tremble. The timidity of the hotel cleaning lady had completely vanished, replaced by the fierce, unyielding dignity of Doctor Amin Al-Masri’s daughter. “My father’s archives do not belong to your shell companies, Mr. Garza. They belong to the history of my people.”

Garza’s fake smile faltered, a flash of genuine malice crossing his features. “Ms. Al-Masri, you are a cleaning woman. You have no legal representation, no corporate backing, and no idea what kind of financial machinery you are trying to block. Sign the waiver relinquishing the estate claims, take a severance settlement of half a million dollars, and go back to your scrubbing brushes. It’s the smartest thing you’ll ever do.”

Before Tariq could signal his men, before a single punch could be thrown, Daniel stepped forward.

The twelve-year-old boy looked up at the towering, arrogant fixer with eyes that burned with a fierce, protective fury. He didn't cower. He didn't look at his mother for permission.

“My mom doesn't scrub brushes for people like you,” Daniel said, his voice echoing clearly through the terminal lounge. “And she doesn't need your blood-money settlement. You’re just a coward who steals from people who aren't here to fight back.”

Garza’s face flushed a deep, angry red. He took a menacing step toward the boy. “Why, you little—”.

In a blur of motion that defied his royal stature, Sheikh Tariq closed the distance, grabbing Garza by the lapel of his expensive suit and lifting him slightly off the polished tile floor. The two bodyguards instantly drew their sidearms, training them with laser precision on Garza’s enforcers, who froze instantly with their hands in the air.

“If you ever,” Tariq whispered, his voice like the grinding of tectonic plates, “look at this boy, or his mother, with anything less than absolute submission again, you will not spend your trial in a Mexican prison. You will disappear into a desert where even your corporate lawyers will never find your shadow.”

Garza choked, grabbing Tariq’s wrists, his face turning pale with sheer terror. “O-okay... alright... let go... we’re leaving...”

Tariq shoved Garza back with such force that the fixer stumbled over his own feet, crashing hard into a leather sofa. Garza scrambled up, gasping for breath, glaring with venomous hatred before signaling his men.

“This isn't over!” Garza snarled as he backed toward the exit doors. “You can’t hide behind royal immunity forever!”

“Watch us,” Tariq replied coldly.

As the doors swung shut behind Garza and his thugs, the terminal fell back into a heavy, resonant silence.

Lucía let out a long, shuddering breath, her knees suddenly feeling weak. Daniel looked up at her, his chest heaving, a fierce pride shining in his eyes. She dropped to her knees, pulling her son into a tight embrace.

“You were so brave, mi amor,” she whispered into his hair. “Too brave.”

“I learned it from my mom,” Daniel mumbled against her shoulder.

May you like

Tariq stood watching them, a genuine, warm smile softening his features. He extended his hand, helping them both to their feet.

“The jet is waiting,” Tariq said softly. “Let’s go home.”
