Chapter 8 - The Queen’s Coronation

Six months later.
The historic St. Nicholas Cathedral in Manhattan was decorated with thousands of white roses, eucalyptus garlands, and glowing beeswax candles. The air was rich with the scent of incense and sweet spring flowers.
This was not a secret mob wedding held in the shadows. It was a grand, triumphant celebration of love and redemption.
Every major figure in the city—business leaders, community members, and reformed syndicate leaders—sat in the wooden pews, watching in respectful awe.
At the altar stood Viktor Rostov, looking imposing and impossibly handsome in a dark navy velvet tuxedo. Standing beside him as his best man was his lead security chief, while little Sophie stood proudly as the flower girl, tossing pink rose petals along the white carpet.
The grand pipe organ resonated with the first majestic notes of the bridal march.
The heavy oak doors at the back of the cathedral opened.
Emma walked down the aisle on the arm of her younger brother, Noah. She was a vision of breathtaking, royal beauty. She wore an off-the-shoulder, ivory satin ballgown designed specifically to flatter her plus-size figure, featuring a fitted boned bodice embroidered with silver lace and a long, dramatic train that swept gracefully behind her. A sheer lace veil covered her face, held in place by a diamond tiara.
Viktor’s breath caught in his throat. Tears welled in the eyes of the feared Mafia Don—a sight no man in New York had ever witnessed.
When Noah handed Emma’s hand to Viktor at the altar, Noah signed quickly: Take care of my sister, Don Rostov.
Viktor signed back fluently, his hands precise and respectful: She is my queen. I will protect her with my life.
The ceremony was spoken in both English and clear, elegant American Sign Language so that Noah, Sophie, and the deaf community members Emma had invited could participate fully.
When the priest asked for the vows, Viktor took Emma’s hands in his, looking directly into her eyes:
“Emma, when you walked into my dark world, you didn't fear the monsters. You healed my child, you sheltered my soul, and you taught me that true power is not found in fear, but in love. I give you my heart, my empire, and my name for the rest of my days.”
Emma smiled, her eyes brimming with tears of pure joy as she recited her vows:
“Viktor, I didn't fall in love with a mafia boss. I fell in love with a father who loved his daughter more than life itself. I promise to stand beside you through every storm, to fill our home with laughter, and to love you unconditionally until the end of time.”

“I pronounce you husband and wife,” the priest declared. “You may kiss the bride.”
Viktor lifted Emma’s veil, cupped her face softly, and pulled her into a deep, passionate kiss as the cathedral erupted into thunderous applause.
