Chapter 10 - The Song of the Gold

The evening sun set behind the Hudson River, casting a long, red glow through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the penthouse.

Grace stood by the glass, looking out at the city she had finally conquered. Her hand was resting on the dark oak table, her fingers tracing the smooth, polished wood.

The gold chain around her neck was warm against her skin.

Dojin walked up behind her, his arms wrapping around her waist, pulling her back against his chest. He rested his chin on her shoulder, his breathing deep, steady, and perfectly in sync with hers.

"What are you thinking about?" he asked.

"My mother," Grace said softly. "I was thinking about how she used to say that the city was like a giant piano. If you play the right notes, it will sing for you. But if you play the wrong ones, it will shake you until you break."

"And what are we playing, Grace?"

Grace turned in his arms, her hands reaching up to cup his face, her fingers touching the sharp line of his jaw and the black dragon tattoo on his neck.

"We're playing our own song, Dojin," she whispered, her lips turning up into a beautiful, radiant smile. "And we're playing it loud."

Dojin leaned down, his lips meeting hers in a deep, passionate kiss that carried the promise of all their tomorrows—a promise built not on contracts or debt, but on the quiet, unyielding rhythm of two hearts that had finally found their home.

Below them, the lights of Manhattan began to blink on, a million tiny stars shining in the dark, celebrating the king and the brilliant queen of the tower.
