Chapter 3: The File That Was Never Supposed to Be Opened

That night, the mansion changed security protocols.

Not to protect guests.

But to contain information.

The heir locked himself in the study.

Not out of anger.

Out of need.

Because once a story starts breaking, it doesn’t stop at one crack.

It spreads.

He reopened the burn report.

Line by line.

Timestamp by timestamp.

Everything consistent.

Except the missing identity entry.

Then he saw it.

A secondary file.

Encrypted.

Tagged:

NURSERY INCIDENT – INTERNAL ONLY

He opened it.

Footage.

Not fire.

Not destruction.

Before.

A child.

A small one.

Held by a woman running through smoke.

The nursery wing collapsing behind her.

Glass breaking.

Fire alarms screaming.

Then—

a pause in the footage.

A close-up.

The child’s neck.

The same scar.

The heir dropped the phone slightly.

Because now it wasn’t theory.

It was confirmation.

Behind him, footsteps.

His mother entered the room.

She saw the screen.

And froze.

“You weren’t supposed to find that,” she said quietly.

The heir didn’t look away.

“Why is it there?”

Silence.

Then:

“Because some truths destroy families.”

He turned toward her.

“No,” he said.

“You destroyed this one already.”

Her voice tightened.

“That child died that night.”

The heir stepped closer.

“No,” he said again.

“Someone saved her.”

A pause.

“And you erased her.”

The mother’s composure cracked slightly.

“You don’t understand what that fire did to this family,” she said.

The heir answered immediately:

“I understand you lied.”

Silence.

May you like

Heavy.

Final.
