CHAPTER 5: Dismantling the Dynasty

With the immediate threat neutralized and the Ashfords securely behind bars awaiting a federal trial without bail, Maya didn't rest. True justice required the complete eradication of the Ashford family's influence, ensuring they could never harm anyone else again.
Three days later, fully recovered from the infection thanks to top-tier medical care, Maya walked back into the Ashford estate. She was accompanied by a team of forensic accountants, liquidators, and construction workers. Her hair was now styled into a sharp, asymmetrical bob—a look that exuded power and rebirth rather than defeat.
She walked down to the east staircase, straight to the freezing vault where she had been dragged nights prior.
"Open it," she ordered.
The workers used a specialized digital key to retract the heavy circular door. Maya walked inside, looking at the stacks of cash, the bearer bonds, and the historic artifacts.
"Every dollar in this vault was stolen through generational exploitation, predatory lending, and extortion," Maya said to her lead financial officer. "Liquidate all of it. Set up a global foundation for victims of domestic and corporate abuse. I want the Ashford name wiped off every building, every charity foundation, and every legal document in this state."
"And the estate itself, Ms. Vale?" the officer asked.
Maya looked up at the ornate ceiling, remembering the coldness of the family that had lived here. "Demolish it. Build a public park and a tech-education sanctuary for underprivileged girls. Let's build something beautiful over their greed."
While the liquidation process began, Maya received a video call from the federal prosecutor. The Ashfords were turning on each other in the interrogation rooms. Adrian had already signed a full confession implicating his mother in exchange for a reduced sentence, while Veronica was screaming that her children had botched the execution of the plan.

"They are destroying themselves, Maya," the prosecutor said, shaking his head. "They don't even need us to prosecute them. Their own greed is doing the work."
"Good," Maya said, closing her tablet. "Let them burn."
