Chapter 8 - The Boardroom Execution

At 9:00 a.m. on the day of the annual shareholder meeting, the top floor of the Hayes Global Tower in downtown Phoenix was a hive of intense, high-stakes corporate tension.
Inside the executive boardroom—a massive space featuring glass walls overlooking the city skyline—sixteen members of the board of directors sat around a sixty-foot polished mahogany table.
At the head of the table sat Arthur, acting as temporary chairman, looking nervously at the empty executive chair at the end of the room.
The double frosted glass doors opened, and Evelyn Hayes walked in, flanked by three high-priced corporate attorneys. She was dressed in a sharp white power suit, her head held high, though her eyes were bloodshot and dark circles were concealed under thick makeup. She hadn't been able to reach Hector or Rebecca all night, and her anxiety was reaching a boiling point.
"Good morning, members of the board," Evelyn announced coldly, taking a seat at the right of the empty chairman's seat. "As you know, today is the deadline for the voting trust conversion. Daniel has failed to present a legitimate, legally sound family structure as required by my late husband's will. Therefore, I move that we immediately initiate the voting transfer and declare the CEO position vacant."
"Not so fast, Evelyn," Arthur interjected smoothly.
The doors opened again.
Daniel stepped into the boardroom. He looked magnificent—impeccably groomed, wearing a midnight-blue bespoke suit, carrying a black leather portfolio.
And walking right beside him, holding his hand with unshakeable grace and authority, was me.
Behind us walked Marcus Vance, accompanied by two federal agents in dark suits holding official seal folders.
Evelyn jumped to her feet, her chair scraping loudly against the polished floor. "What is the meaning of this?! This is a private board meeting! You cannot bring outsiders into this room!"
"Sarah isn't an outsider, Evelyn," Daniel said, his voice calm, echoing through the silent boardroom. "She is my legal wife. And as of 8:00 a.m. this morning, the Maricopa County Probate Court has formally validated our marriage certificate, fully vesting fifty-one percent of the voting shares in my name."
He tossed a certified court order onto the center of the mahogany table.
The board members immediately leaned forward, eagerly reading the document.
"This is a fraud!" Evelyn shrieked, her voice losing its polished veneer. "She's a gold-digger! A fugitive from Texas! I have proof that—"
"You have proof of nothing, Evelyn," Marcus Vance interrupted sharply, stepping forward and opening his briefcase. "However, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has extensive proof regarding your activities over the past seventy-two hours."
Marcus pulled out a stack of federal arrest warrants and laid them in front of the board members, alongside printed transcripts of the encrypted phone calls between Evelyn and Hector Gomez.
"Evelyn Hayes," one of the federal agents stepped forward, pulling a pair of steel handcuffs from his belt. "You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit murder, solicitation of a capital crime, and corporate wire fraud. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law."
The boardroom erupted into absolute chaos. Board members gasped, pulling their chairs back as the federal agent stepped up to Evelyn, pulling her arms behind her back and snapping the steel cuffs around her wrists.
"No! This is a setup! Daniel, tell them!" Evelyn screamed, her face contorting into a mask of pure rage as she was forced toward the exit. "You won't get away with this! I built this company! I deserve this seat!"
"You built nothing, Evelyn," Daniel said coldly, looking her dead in the eye as she was dragged past him. "You were a parasite who tried to destroy my father's legacy and murder my family. Enjoy your new home."
The heavy glass doors slammed shut behind her, leaving the boardroom in stunned, absolute silence.
Daniel walked to the head of the mahogany table, pulling out the massive executive chair at the center. He didn't sit down immediately. He turned to me, offering his hand, helping me sit in the leather chair right beside him at the head of the room.

He looked around the table at the remaining board members, his presence commanding, undisputed, and absolute.
"Gentlemen," Daniel announced, his voice steady and resolute. "Let's begin the meeting."
