Chapter 10 - The New Dawn

One year later.

The sun was rising brightly over the quiet waters of Lake Michigan, painting the sky in brilliant hues of gold, rose, and amber.

The DeLuca estate was transformed. The dark, cold fortress was now filled with vibrant gardens, soft outdoor play areas, and the sound of laughter.

Vincent Moretti’s empire had been completely dismantled by federal authorities, his lieutenants imprisoned, and the city’s shipping operations restored to absolute peace under Damian’s legitimate corporate umbrella.

In the gardens, eight-year-old Ava sat on a broad wooden bench, wearing a light blue summer dress. Beside her sat Grace, Natalie's younger sister, who was now graduating with honors from her university—her tuition entirely paid, her future bright and secure.

"Look, Natalie!" Ava called out, her voice clear, confident, and joyful. She held up a beautiful watercolor painting of the estate grounds. "The lines are straight!"

"They are perfect, Ava," Natalie called back from the terrace, holding a cup of warm tea.

A pair of strong arms wrapped around Natalie's waist from behind.

Damian pulled her back against his chest, resting his chin gently on her shoulder. On Natalie's left hand, a breathtaking diamond ring caught the morning sunlight—a brilliant, ethically sourced stone set within a simple, elegant platinum band.

"What are you thinking about, Mrs. DeLuca?" Damian murmured softly, kissing the side of her neck.

Natalie smiled, leaning back against the man who had turned her entire life around—the man whom the world feared, but who treated her and his daughter with endless, profound reverence.

"I was thinking about Meredith Sloan," Natalie said with a soft chuckle.

Damian laughed—a warm, rich sound that echoed across the quiet garden. "The manager who fired you for using a cashmere wrap?"

"If she hadn't fired me," Natalie said, turning around in his arms and looking up into his dark, loving eyes, "I would still be standing behind a counter on Michigan Avenue, terrified of my monthly rent."

Damian took her face in his hands, his thumbs gently smoothing over her cheeks.

"She gave me the greatest gift of my life," Damian said softly, leaning down to press his lips against hers in a slow, sweet, passionate kiss. "She drove you straight into my arms."

Hand in hand, they walked down the stone steps together into the bright, warm sunlight to join their daughter.
