Chapter 6: The Final Audit

The ceremony was small, held in a cliffside villa in Sicily overlooking the Mediterranean. It wasn't a mob wedding; it was a celebration of two people who had found each other in the middle of a war and decided that the only thing that mattered was the peace they built together.

Elena, Dante’s mother, was there, beaming at the couple. Luca was there, looking surprisingly emotional in a suit that was definitely not designed for combat.

As the sun set over the water, turning the sky into a palette of gold and violet, Dante took Bridget’s hand.

"I looked through all the files," he said, his voice full of warmth. "Every ledger, every record, every piece of paper. And do you know what I found?"

"Another missing decimal point?" Bridget teased, her eyes bright with happiness.

Dante shook his head, his eyes fixed on hers with a gaze that held no shadows, only devotion. "I found that the only thing that ever truly added up in my life... was you."

Bridget squeezed his hand, the sapphire ring on her finger catching the light. She looked out at the horizon, the place where the sea met the sky, and she finally felt like she was home.

She didn't need a spreadsheet to tell her what she already knew.

Her life, once a collection of unpaid bills and nervous smiles, had finally been balanced. The war was over. The books were closed. And for the first time, the future was an open page
