Chapter 10 - Everlasting Spring

Three years later.
The summer sun beamed down brightly over the lush, endless lawns of the Pierce estate. The ocean breeze blew through the tall trees, carrying the sweet scent of blooming lavender and fresh grass.
In the center of the grand orchard, beneath the wooden swing set Julian had built years ago, sat Maya. She looked healthy, radiant, and deeply content, wearing a sun hat and a light yellow dress.
Beside her on a soft blanket was a four-year-old Emma, running around in circle chasing a golden retriever puppy, her bright laughter filling the air like music.
"Mommy! Look! I caught a butterfly!" Emma squealed happily, pointing to a bright yellow monarch hovering over the flowers.
"It’s beautiful, sweetie!" Maya laughed.
From the path leading from the main house, Julian walked toward them. He was wearing casual clothes, carrying a silver tray with fresh lemonade and a bowl of strawberries. But he wasn't alone.
Strapped securely to his chest in a brand-new, modern blue baby carrier was a six-month-old baby boy with dark hair and bright hazel eyes—their son, Leo.
Julian walked over, setting the tray on the wooden table, and gently unstrapped little Leo, placing him gently in Maya’s arms.
Julian sat down beside Maya on the blanket, wrapping his arm around her waist, pulling her close. He leaned over, pressing a tender kiss to her lips, and then kissed the top of baby Leo’s head.
"How is the new garden project coming?" Julian asked softly, watching Emma play with the puppy.
"The community gardens in town opened today," Maya smiled, resting her head on Julian’s shoulder as she nursed baby Leo. "Fifty families harvested their first vegetables this morning. They sent us a photo."
Julian smiled, his heart overflowing with a peace he had once thought impossible.
He looked out over the vast, magnificent estate—the green trees, the vibrant flowers, the sound of his daughter’s laughter, the warm weight of his wife and son beside him.
