Chapter 8 - The Proposal in the Blooms

A month after Brandon’s arrest and Harrison Vance’s public disgrace following a corporate investigation into his illegal activities, peace finally returned to the Pierce estate.

It was a gorgeous Saturday afternoon in late May. The entire estate was in full bloom—vibrant red roses, purple lavender, and lush green lawns stretched as far as the eye could see under a clear blue sky.

Julian asked Maya to meet him in the glass conservatory—the place where their journey had truly begun.

When Maya walked through the grand glass doors, she caught her breath.

The conservatory had been transformed. Thousands of fairy lights hung from the iron arches overhead, sparkling like stars. The path was lined with petals of rare white orchids, and in the center stood the ancient Japanese Bonsai tree, glowing with vibrant red leaves and new life.

Standing beside the tree was Julian. He was wearing a tailored grey suit, holding a small wooden box in his hands. Nearby, Lily sat on a bench, holding little Emma, who was wearing a tiny white dress and holding a rose petal in her hand.

Maya walked down the orchid-covered path, her heart beating with frantic joy. "Julian... what is all this?"

Julian took her hands in his, looking down at her with a love so deep, so pure, that it brought tears to Maya’s eyes before he even spoke.

"Maya," Julian began, his voice soft and trembling with emotion. "A year ago, I was a ghost living in a tomb. I had closed my heart to the world, believing that love only brought pain and loss. And then, on a rainy morning, a brave girl walked through my iron gates with a baby strapped to her chest and dirt on her shoes, demanding a chance to show what she could do."

Maya let out a soft laugh, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"You saved my gardens, Maya," Julian continued, sinking down onto one knee on the marble floor. "But more than that, you saved my soul. You and Emma gave me a reason to live, to laugh, and to love again."

He opened the small wooden box. Inside sat a breathtaking ring—a rare, radiant-cut green emerald surrounded by flawless diamonds, set in platinum.

"Maya Brooks, will you marry me and make me the happiest man in the world? Will you let me be a real father to Emma, and build a lifetime of springs together?"

Emma let out a happy squeal from the bench, clapping her tiny hands. "Ju-Ju! Ju-Ju!"

Maya laughed through her tears, dropping to her knees right in front of him, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Yes! Yes, Julian! A thousand times yes!"

Julian slid the emerald ring onto her finger, pulled her close, and kissed her with a passion that echoed through the light-filled conservatory. Lily cheered, wiping tears from her eyes, as little Emma toddled over on her wobbly legs, throwing her tiny arms around both of them, joining their embrace.
