Chapter 6 - The Calabrian Retaliation

The peace did not last long. By the end of the week, the Rossi family launched a desperate, bloody retaliation. They knew that if Vittorio consolidated his power, they would be systematically erased from the Italian peninsula.
At midnight, a convoy of heavily armored SUVs breached the outer perimeter of the Morelli docks in the Port of Naples. Their objective was to destroy Vittorio’s primary shipping hub, cutting off his financial lifeline. Grenades were tossed into warehouses, and the night sky lit up with malicious orange flames.
Vittorio, forewarned by his deep network of informants, was already waiting for them in the shadows of the shipping containers. He didn't send his foot soldiers to do the dirty work; he led the counter-ambush himself.
The firefight was brutal and brief. Vittorio moved like a phantom through the smoke, his weapon barking with lethal precision. He cornered the leader of the assault—Don Donato Rossi, Matteo’s uncle and the operational brain of the Calabrian family.
Donato, bleeding from a shoulder wound, backed into a corner of the pier, his gun empty. "You think you've won, Morelli? You're a dinosaur. Your wife knew it. We knew it. The world is changing!"

"The world changes because I allow it to change," Vittorio said, his shadow stretching long across the blood-slicked concrete. He raised his weapon. "Tell your ancestors that Vittorio Morelli sends his regards."
A single shot echoed across the harbor. The leader of the Calabrian threat was no more, and the remaining Rossi soldiers threw down their weapons in total surrender.
