Chapter 8 - A New Paradigm

The transition of power in Naples was absolute. The five families of Sicily, seeing the total annihilation of the Rossi clan and the surgical extraction of Isabella, sent their highest emissaries to Naples to beg for Vittorio's forgiveness and to sign a new, heavily lopsided trade agreement that favored the Morelli empire for generations to come.

But inside the grand villa, Vittorio was changing. The betrayal had destroyed his illusions about romance and blind trust, but it had opened his eyes to a different kind of loyalty—one built on genuine devotion rather than fear or contractual marriage.

He threw open the heavy drapes of his study, letting the bright Italian sunshine flood the room. Outside, on the lawn, Sophia was studying with a private tutor from the finest academy in Rome, her laughter drifting through the open window. Her father, Tomaso, was now the overseer of the entire estate's logistics, a position of immense trust and wealth.

Marco walked into the study, carrying a glass of vintage wine. "The city is quiet, Vittorio. Safer than it has been in thirty years. You've achieved total dominance."

"It's not enough to dominate, Marco," Vittorio said, watching Sophia point out a flower to her tutor. "An empire that only builds walls eventually becomes a prison. We need to build a legacy that can withstand the test of time."
