Chapter 6 - The War in the Glass Tower

The grand auditorium at Vance International headquarters was packed to capacity. Hundreds of cameras flashed as Arthur Vance stepped up to the podium, adjusting his glasses. He looked calm, solemn, and completely in control.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the press," Arthur began, his voice echoing through the broadcast systems worldwide. "It is with a heavy heart that I announce a temporary transition in leadership. My daughter, Fallon Vance, who has led our philanthropic efforts with great dedication, has recently suffered a severe medical setback related to the tragic loss of her children ten years ago. For her own well-being, the board has voted to grant her an indefinite leave of absence—"
BAM.
The heavy mahogany doors at the back of the auditorium swung open, slamming against the marble walls.
The camera crews spun around in unison. Flashbulbs went off like a lightning storm.
Fallon Vance strode down the center aisle. She was wearing a blood-red suit, her dark hair flowing shoulder-length, her posture regal and unyielding. Behind her walked three top high-profile civil rights attorneys and two federal marshals.
"Correction, Arthur," Fallon’s voice boomed through her lapel microphone, cutting through the murmuring crowd like a scythe. "I am not on a leave of absence. And I have never been more sane in my life."
Arthur’s face hardened into a mask of pure fury, though he kept his voice controlled. "Fallon, step down. You are unwell—"
"I am perfectly well," Fallon declared, stepping onto the stage and pushing Arthur away from the podium. She looked directly into the primary broadcast camera lens—speaking to millions of viewers, and to three ten-year-old boys watching from a hospital screen twenty miles away.
"Ten years ago," Fallon announced, her voice echoing with absolute power, "Arthur Vance told the world—and told me—that my newborn triplets had died at birth. He produced fake death certificates, bribed medical staff, and buried empty coffins."
Gasps erupted across the auditorium. Reporters stood up, shouting questions.
"He did this," Fallon continued, pointing a trembling finger at her father, "because my children were born to a good, honest man who did not fit the wealthy narrative of Vance International. For ten years, Arthur Vance forced my husband into hiding, forcing my sons to grow up in poverty while he used my grief to build a multi-hundred-million-dollar charitable brand!"
"This is madness!" Arthur shouted, motioning for corporate security to step in. "Security, escort her out!"
Before the security guards could reach the stage, the two federal marshals stepped forward, pulling out federal arrest warrants.
"Arthur Vance," the lead marshal announced loudly, his voice picked up by the auditorium microphones. "You are under arrest for conspiracy, falsification of vital records, interstate child abduction, and grand corporate fraud."
The room descended into utter chaos. Reporters shouted, cameras flashed wildly, and board members sat in stunned horror as federal agents stepped onto the stage, forcing Arthur Vance’s hands behind his back and snapping steel handcuffs around his wrists.
Arthur glared at Fallon as he was dragged away, his face twisted in defeat. "You destroyed this family, Fallon!"

Fallon stood tall at the podium, watching him go without a single tear.
"No, Arthur," she whispered into the microphone. "I saved it."
