Chapter 10 - The Unbreakable Family
The harp music began to drift across the sunlit lawn.
Two hundred guests—ranging from city officials, doctors, and charity heads to former business associates who looked respectfully at the reformed kingpin—sat in the gold chairs beneath the marquee.
At the end of the white runner stood Adrian Vale.
He looked impossibly handsome in a black Italian tuxedo, his eyes fixed on the entrance of the marquee. Standing beside him as his groomsmen were Evan, Caleb, Noah, and Luke—four proud, handsome young men who stood tall and confident beside their father.
The music shifted to the bridal march.
Nia walked down the aisle, her arm resting on the arm of her proud uncle, her veil trailing behind her.
When Adrian saw her, his breath caught in his chest. His dark eyes filled with happy tears, a radiant, overwhelming smile lighting up his sharp face.
When she reached the altar, Adrian stepped forward, taking her hand gently in his.
"You take my breath away," Adrian whispered softly.
"I love you," Nia smiled back.
The officiant stepped forward, his voice echoing warmly through the quiet marquee.
"We are gathered here today to unite Adrian Vale and Nia Carter in holy matrimony. A marriage built not just on love, but on courage, redemption, and the unbreakable bond of family."
When it came time for the vows, Adrian looked into Nia's eyes, holding both of her hands in his broad, warm grip.
"Nia," Adrian began, his voice deep, clear, and resonant. "When you stepped out of that SUV on a cold morning, I thought you were just another caregiver who would run away. I didn't know that God was sending an angel into my home. You faced four angry boys and a broken man, and instead of walking away, you built a sanctuary of love. I give you my life, my heart, and my eternal loyalty. I am yours, forever."
Nia wiped a joy-filled tear from her cheek, her voice steady and full of deep love.
"Adrian," Nia said. "I came into your life looking to save my sister, but in doing so, I found the home I had been searching for my entire life. I promise to love you, to honor you, and to stand by your side through every storm. I promise to love our sons with everything I have. You are my heart, Adrian. Forever."
"By the power vested in me," the officiant smiled brightly, "I now pronounce you husband and wife! Adrian, you may kiss your bride!"
Adrian didn't wait a second. He pulled Nia into his arms, dipping her slightly, and kissed her with a deep, passionate, joyful devotion that made the entire crowd erupt into loud, thunderous applause!
The four boys cheered at the top of their lungs, throwing rose petals into the air!
Adrian lifted Nia up, holding her close to his chest as they turned to face their guests, both of them beaming with pure, radiant happiness.
The four unruly sons who had once driven everyone away were now surrounding them, laughing, hugging, and celebrating the woman who had dared to love them when no one else would.
The crime boss had found his peace.
