Chapter 8 - The New Dawn

One year later.
The summer sun shone brightly over the manicured grounds of the Moretti estate, turning the waters of Lake Michigan into a shimmering blanket of silver and blue.
The rear lawn had been transformed into a breathtaking outdoor chapel. White silk canopies floated gently in the breeze, thousands of white roses lined the aisle, and a string quartet played soft classical melodies near the flower-draped altar.
Over two hundred guests filled the white chairs—city leaders, business partners, household staff, and federal officers who had become trusted friends, including Agents Miller and Vance.
Standing at the front of the altar, wearing a midnight-blue tuxedo, was Adrian Moretti.
Beside him stood Mateo, serving as his best man, and three-year-old Noah, looking remarkably handsome in a tiny matching tuxedo, holding a velvet pillow with two gleaming gold rings.
The music shifted, transitioning into a soaring, magnificent bridal march.
The crowd stood up, turning toward the French doors of the mansion.
Escorted by Vivian Moretti—who walked proudly and gracefully with only a slight decorative cane—came Hannah Reed.
Hannah was radiant.
She wore a breathtaking white lace gown with a long, flowing train that swept across the green grass. Her brown hair was styled in soft waves adorned with small pearl pins, and her hazel eyes shone with a deep, radiant joy that captivated everyone in attendance.
As she reached the altar, Vivian took Hannah’s hand and placed it gently inside Adrian’s.
“Take care of her, brother,” Vivian whispered with a tearful smile. “She’s the best thing that ever happened to this family.”
“I will,” Adrian promised, his voice thick with emotion.
He looked down at Hannah, his broad hands holding hers, his dark eyes brimming with a love so profound it brought tears to Hannah’s eyes.
The minister stepped forward, his voice carrying over the quiet breeze.
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to unite two hearts that have proven that true love, courage, and devotion can overcome any darkness...”
When the time came for the vows, Adrian looked directly into Hannah’s eyes, holding her hands tightly.
“Hannah,” Adrian spoke, his voice steady and deep. “Two years ago, you walked into my home as a quiet woman who asked for nothing. But when the storm came, you stood as a shield for my son, facing down evil with a courage that humbled me. You restored light to this house, you gave my son a mother, and you gave me a reason to love again. I vow to protect you, respect you, and cherish you for every day of my life.”
Hannah wiped a tear from her cheek, smiling radiantly through her tears.
“Adrian,” Hannah said softly. “I came into this house looking for a job, but I found my home. You showed me what it means to be truly protected, truly seen, and truly loved. I promise to stand by your side, to build a life of peace and joy with you, and to love you and Noah with all my heart, forever.”
Noah stepped forward, offering the velvet pillow with a proud, beaming grin. “Here are the rings, Daddy!”
The crowd let out a warm, affectionate laugh.
Adrian took the golden band and slipped it onto Hannah’s finger. Hannah took the matching gold ring and placed it on Adrian’s finger.
“By the power vested in me,” the minister announced, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. Adrian, you may kiss your bride.”
