Chapter 9 - The Harbor Sunset

That evening, after the grand summit had concluded, Ethan and I walked hand-in-hand along the wooden piers of Boston’s Seaport District.
The summer sun was setting over the harbor, painting the sky in breathtaking shades of amber, violet, and deep crimson. A cool ocean breeze swept across the water, carrying the distant chime of sailboat rigging and the soft murmur of the tide.
Ethan wrapped his arm around my shoulders, pulling me close against his side as we stopped at the edge of the pier.
“Do you remember our first anniversary?” Ethan asked softly, looking out at the light glittering on the water.
“Of course I do,” I smiled, resting my hand on his chest. “We ate cheap pizza on a bench in Boston Common because we couldn't afford a reservation at the Halcyon Grand.”
Ethan laughed softly, kissing the top of my head. “And I promised you that night that one day I’d take you to the best table in the highest room in the city.”
I looked up at him, my heart full and overflowing with a peace that money could never buy.
“You gave me something better, Ethan,” I whispered. “You showed me that as long as I’m standing beside you, every table is the best seat in the house.”
Ethan turned to face me, taking both of my hands in his, his deep brown eyes reflecting the golden light of the setting sun.
“No more secrets?” he teased gently, a warm smirk playing on his lips. “You don't secretly own a fleet of cruise ships or a castle in Scotland, do you?”
I laughed loudly, the melodious sound floating out over the harbor waters.

“No cruise ships, Mr. CTO,” I smiled, reaching up to gently trace the strong line of his jaw. “Just a quiet life, a husband I adore, and a future we built together.”
Ethan leaned down, pressing his lips to mine in a slow, deep, passionate kiss that sealed every promise we had ever made to each other.
