Chapter 10 - The Garden in Full Bloom

Five years after the ill-fated garden party, Fernwick was celebrated as one of the state's premier ecological landmarks.

It was a warm summer evening, and the sun was setting over the western hills, painting the sky in soft hues of pink, gold, and purple. A small, intimate gathering of close friends, family, and colleagues had gathered on the lawn outside the main house.

I wore a simple, elegant ivory dress, holding a bouquet of freshly cut lavender from the garden—the very same lavender that had once been a silent witness to my betrayal, now a symbol of my rebirth.

Julian stood beneath the grand oak tree at the edge of the terrace, wearing a navy suit, his face lit up with a brilliant, loving smile as I walked down the stone path toward him.

Arthur stood beside us, officiating the intimate outdoor ceremony.

"Land is more than just dirt and stone," Arthur said to the gathered guests, his voice rich with emotion. "Land is a reflection of the soul that cares for it. True love, much like a great garden, cannot be stolen, rushed, or built on lies. It requires patience, respect, and deep roots."

As Julian and I exchanged vows—promising to build a life based on mutual trust, honesty, and shared dreams—I looked out across the lush, green expanse of Fernwick.

I thought briefly about Grant, who was now serving out the remainder of his community service after a ruined legal career, and Lenora, living in quiet obscurity. They had tried to erase me, believing that power came from titles, legal tricks, and money.

But they were wrong. True power came from resilience. It came from knowing who you were and standing firm when the storm hit.

"I give you my promise," Julian whispered, placing a simple gold band on my finger, "to always stand beside you, to nurture what we build together, and to honor your strength every single day."

"And I promise the same," I replied softly, my heart full and overflowing.

Arthur smiled broadly. "By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife."

The small crowd burst into warm applause as Julian pulled me close and kissed me under the shade of the ancient oak tree.

Later that night, after our guests had departed and the stars filled the clear night sky, Julian and I sat on the porch swing, listening to the soft chorus of frogs singing from the restored ponds below.

Julian wrapped a warm blanket around my shoulders, resting his chin gently on top of my head.

"Happy, Mara?" he asked softly.

I looked out at the dark, peaceful silhouette of the estate I had fought so hard to save—a sanctuary of beauty, life, and true love.

"More than happy," I whispered, holding his hand tightly. "I'm finally home."
