Derek was arrested before sunrise.
Not for attempted murder alone.
But for fraud, conspiracy, and multiple financial crimes Alexander had uncovered in a single night.
Grace woke in a hospital room.
Her babies were safe.
Alive.
Healthy.
Alexander stood near the window, silent as always.
“You didn’t have to come,” she whispered.
He looked at her.
“I did.”
A pause.
“Why?” she asked.
His answer came quietly.
“Because once, someone like you wasn’t saved in time.”
Grace didn’t understand.
