Chapter 10 - The Real House

One year later.
The summer sun shone brightly over a sprawling lakefront estate in Lake Forest—a new home built away from the shadows of the past, filled with light, gardens, and laughter.
In the backyard, Mateo—now walking with the aid of a cane—was kicking a small soccer ball toward a tiny, laughing toddler.
On the grand back patio, Dominic stood holding a glass of fresh lemonade. He wore a simple linen shirt, looking relaxed, happy, and completely at peace.
Evelyn walked out through the french doors, wearing a yellow summer dress, carrying a tray of sandwiches.
Dominic set his glass down, walking over to take the heavy tray from her hands, setting it on the table before pulling her into his arms.
"How is our Chief Executive Officer doing today?" Dominic teased, kissing her nose.
"Exhausted, but happy," Evelyn smiled, resting her head against his chest as they watched Mateo play with their baby daughter, Clara. "The new rehabilitation clinic opened downtown today. We already enrolled thirty patients."
"I know," Dominic said softly, wrapping his arms securely around her waist. "I read the morning report. You're changing the world, Evelyn."
"We are," she corrected gently, looking up into his dark eyes.
Dominic looked at his brother walking on the lawn, looked at his daughter laughing in the sunshine, and finally looked at the incredible woman in his arms.
He remembered the night he had watched the hidden camera feed—the night he had seen a chubby maid take his paralyzed brother's hand and say, “We're going to figure this out together.”
They had figured it out. They had conquered the shadows, destroyed their enemies, and built a kingdom rooted in love, loyalty, and truth.
Dominic leaned down, pressing a soft, loving kiss against Evelyn's lips.

"I love you, Evelyn Moretti," he whispered against her skin.
"I love you too, Don Dominic," she smiled against his lips. "Forever."
