Chapter 20 - The Top of the World

Two years later.

It was a brilliant midsummer evening.

Nora Hale stood on the open-air sky deck at the absolute top of the Northbridge Tower—the highest point in the entire city.

The sky above was a breathtaking canvas of deep indigo, fiery orange, and soft violet, while the vast metropolis below sparkled like a million diamonds.

Behind her, the private pavilion was alive with light, music, and the sound of pure, unbridled celebration.

The Hale International Logistics & Innovation Center had just been named the world’s most sustainable infrastructure project of the decade. Grant had just welcomed his first newborn son into the world; Marcus was marrying his longtime partner in the fall; and Elise’s agency had opened offices in Paris and Tokyo.

Julian walked out onto the wooden deck, carrying two glasses of champagne.

He handed one to Nora, stepping beside her to lean against the glass railing.

"A long way from the night you walked out of the old estate in the rain," Julian murmured with a gentle, loving smile.

Nora looked out over the glittering horizon, taking a small sip of champagne.

"That night," Nora reflected softly, "I thought I was leaving my family behind forever. I thought the only way to survive was to build a wall around my heart."

Julian reached out, sliding his fingers through hers, his ring touching hers under the moonlight.

"And now?" Julian asked.

Nora turned to look through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of the pavilion.

Inside, Arthur was holding his newborn grandson in his arms, his face glowing with pure, tearful joy. Eleanor was showing Elise a vintage family photo album, while Grant and Marcus were laughing as they poured drinks for their team.

There were no secrets. No hidden hidden agendas. No fear.

Nora looked back out at the vast, beautiful world stretching out before her, feeling the cool ocean breeze wrapping around her like a warm embrace.

"Now," Nora smiled, her voice filled with deep, absolute, and unshakeable peace, "I know that the greatest empire you can ever build... is the one that brings your family back home."

She raised her glass toward the endless sky, drinking to the past, the present, and the beautiful, unbroken future she had fought so hard to create.

The storm was over. The light had won. And Nora Hale was finally, truly home.
