Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

Six months later.

The sun was setting over the estate in Palm Beach—not the Holloway estate, which I had sold off to a luxury resort developer and donated the entire proceeds to a charity supporting survivors of domestic emotional abuse—but the ancestral Bellamy estate on the North Coast.

The estate sat high on a cliff, overlooking the crashing waves of the Atlantic. Rolling green lawns, ancient banyan trees, and crisp sea breezes surrounded the historic stone manor.

A charity gala was taking place on the lawn tonight—the annual Bellamy Foundation Gala for Economic Empowerment.

Hundreds of guests, true leaders of industry, artists, philanthropists, and genuine visionaries walked along the illuminated garden paths. There were no fake smiles, no desperate social climbers, and no toxic arrogance.

I stood near the edge of the stone terrace, wearing an elegant dress of emerald-green silk—a color I had grown to love, not as a symbol of revenge, but as a symbol of growth, renewal, and absolute freedom.

"You look like you're a million miles away," a warm, deep voice said behind me.

I turned around to see Julian Vance—Marcus’s younger brother, a brilliant, soft-spoken architect who had spent the last five years in Europe designing sustainable housing for underprivileged communities, and a man who had loved me quietly, respectfully, and from a distance long before I ever made the mistake of marrying Grant.

Julian stepped onto the terrace, holding two glasses of sparkling mineral water. He offered one to me with a gentle, genuine smile.

"I was just thinking about how far away seven years can feel," I said softly, taking the glass. "Sometimes it feels like that night in the kitchen was a lifetime ago."

"It was a lifetime ago, Seraphina," Julian said gently, leaning against the stone balustrade beside me, his dark eyes looking down at me with deep warmth and unwavering respect. "That was the end of a bad dream. Everything since has been your real life."

"I spent so long trying to hide who I was, Julian," I murmured, looking out at the glittering sea. "I thought if I made myself small, if I served someone else, I would find peace."

"You don't ever have to make yourself small again," Julian said softly, reaching out his hand. He didn't grab. He didn't demand. He simply held his hand open, waiting for my choice. "The world is much better when you're standing at your full height."

I looked at his hand, then looked into his eyes. There was no greed there. No desire for my fortune, no corporate ambition, no fragile ego demanding to be flattered. There was only kindness, truth, and genuine love.

I placed my hand in his. His fingers closed gently around mine, warm and solid.

Across the lawn, Marcus caught my eye and raised a glass in a silent, proud toast.

The wind off the ocean rustled through the palm trees, carrying the sweet scent of night-blooming jasmine. Down below, the waves crashed against the ancient rocks, steady, powerful, and eternal.

I held Julian's hand, took a deep breath of the crisp, cool air, and smiled—not for a camera, not for society, and not to keep the peace.

I smiled because I was Seraphina Vance Bellamy.

I was free, I was powerful, and my story was finally, truly just beginning.
