Chapter 7 - The Confrontation

At 2:00 PM, the grand marble boardroom on the top floor of Sterling Tower was packed to capacity.

The three corrupt board members sat beside Victoria Sterling at the head of the long mahogany conference table. Dozens of minority shareholders and corporate attorneys filled the leather chairs along the perimeter.

Victoria sat tall, reviewing a document prepared by her legal team.

"The motion is simple," Victoria declared to the room, her voice echoing with absolute authority. "In light of recent irrational behavior, Alexander Sterling's executive authority will be temporarily suspended, and the executive committee will assume management of Sterling International."

"On what grounds, Victoria?" a loyal director asked angrily from across the table.

"On the grounds of severe emotional instability," Victoria replied coldly, picking up a pen. "Let us vote."

BANG.

The heavy double oak doors of the boardroom were slammed open so hard the brass handles bounced off the wood walls.

Every head in the room snapped toward the entrance.

Alexander Sterling walked into the room. He was dressed in a sharp, bespoke navy suit, his dark hair brushed back, his presence dominating the entire skyscraper.

Beside him walked Marco, holding a stack of legal folders. And behind them walked two uniformed police officers escorting a pale, trembling old man in a rumpled suit—Dr. Edmund Vale.

Victoria’s face drained of every drop of color. Her pen slipped from her fingers, clattering against the glass tabletop.

"Alexander..." she whispered, her hands shaking slightly.

Alexander didn't look at the board members. He walked directly down the center of the room, stopping at the head of the table, towering over his mother.

"This meeting is adjourned," Alexander announced, his voice carrying the weight of total authority.

"You have no right to stop a board vote!" Victoria spat, attempting to regain her composure, her eyes darting nervously toward Dr. Vale.

"I have every right," Alexander said. He signaled to Marco, who slammed a thick folder onto the center of the table.

"This folder," Alexander said, turning to face the entire board of directors, "contains a sworn, notarized confession from Dr. Edmund Vale. It details how, three years ago, Victoria Sterling paid him eight hundred thousand dollars to forge medical documents stating my wife was terminally ill."

Murmurs of shock swept through the boardroom like a wildfire.

"It further details," Alexander continued, his tone icy and precise, "how Victoria used those forged documents to intimidate my wife, hide her in an illegal rental property, and steal millions from the Sterling Family Trust under the guise of child support."

"Lies!" Victoria shouted, standing up, her chair screeching against the floor. "This is a desperate frame-job!"

"The police officers behind Dr. Vale are here with an arrest warrant, Mother," Alexander said softly, leaning down until he was eye-level with her. "For grand larceny, corporate embezzlement, falsification of medical records, and criminal endangerment."

The two police officers stepped forward, pulling out a pair of steel handcuffs.

"Victoria Sterling," the lead officer said firmly. "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law."

The entire boardroom watched in stunned silence as the former matriarch of high society was turned around, her wrists snapped into cuffs behind her back.

Victoria turned her head, glaring at Alexander with pure, unadulterated hatred. "I built this empire for you! I did everything to protect your legacy!"

"You destroyed my family for your own vanity," Alexander replied, his eyes cold and unyielding. "Take her away."

As Victoria was escorted out of the boardroom in handcuffs, the remaining board members sat in absolute, breathless silence.

Alexander walked to the head of the table, pulled out the leather armchair, and sat down.

"Now," Alexander said calmly, buttoning his jacket. "Let's discuss the future of Sterling International."
