Chapter 10 - A Table of Grace

That evening, I hosted a dinner party at my cottage.

There were no mahogany tables, no cold antique silver, and no silent fear lingering in the corners of the room.

Around my large, rustic wooden table sat the women I had helped over the past year—Clara, who was now running her own successful interior design firm; Sarah, a mother of two who had recovered her life savings from a corrupt trust; and my team of fierce, brilliant auditors.

The table was piled high with a true Southern feast—buttermilk biscuits, fried chicken, candied yams, collard greens, and fresh peach cobbler baking in the oven.

Laughter and warm conversation filled the bright, open room.

I stood at the head of the table, wearing a simple yellow dress, holding a glass of sparkling water.

Clara raised her glass, looking at me with eyes full of deep, permanent gratitude.

“To Eleanor,” Clara said, her voice ringing clearly across the room. “The woman who taught us that silence is not fear... and that a good woman with the truth on her side can break any chain.”

Everyone raised their glasses, shouting their agreement, their cheerful voices echoing through the cozy, sunlit house.

I looked down at my hands—hands that were steady, strong, and completely free. I touched my lip, where the scar had vanished completely, leaving only the quiet strength of the woman who had overcome the storm.

I raised my glass to the women sitting around my table, a radiant, unconditional smile filling my face.

“To truth,” I said softly, my voice filled with profound peace. “And to the grace of a fresh start.”

And as we sat down to eat, surrounded by love, warmth, and laughter, I knew with absolute certainty that the feast before me was not a tool of survival, but the sweet, golden celebration of a life entirely, beautifully reclaimed.
