Chapter 10 - The Sterling Legacy

One year later.
The sun was setting over the gardens of William Sterling’s Virginia compound, casting long, golden shadows across the pristine green lawn. The sound of children's laughter floated from the terrace, where a large white tent had been set up for a celebration.
Victoria stood by the rose bushes, dressed in a beautiful floral sundress. In her arms was her ten-month-old daughter, Catherine—named after her late grandmother. The little girl had bright gray eyes, full of curiosity, looking out at the world with absolute safety.
Leo Vance, who had received a suspended sentence and a full pardon due to his critical cooperation in dismantling the cartel laundering ring, was now working as the head of estate security for William. He walked by, tipping his hat to Victoria with a respectful smile.
William walked out from the terrace, holding two glasses of fresh lemonade. He handed one to his daughter, leaning down to let little Catherine grab his finger with her small, strong hand.
"She looks exactly like you, Tori," William smiled, his eyes softening as he looked at his family.

"She has your eyes, Dad," Victoria said, leaning her head against her father’s shoulder. "The ones that know how to look for the truth."
As the stars began to appear over the Virginia hills, Victoria looked down at her daughter and felt the absolute solidity of the ground beneath her feet. The house she had lost was nothing compared to the home she had found. The fear was gone, the numbers had all been counted, and the future was entirely, beautifully theirs.
