Chapter 3 - The Birth of Hope

The VIP floor of Seattle Grace Hospital was locked down tight.
Private security guards stood at every entrance, refusing entry to reporters, curiosity-seekers, and anyone who didn't carry a Morgan security clearance.
Inside Delivery Suite A, the atmosphere was a mix of medical intensity and quiet, reverent warmth.
Sarah lay in the bed, gasping for air, her face wet with sweat. The top obstetric surgeon in the state was at the foot of the bed, while Alexander sat on her right, holding her hand firmly, and Nicholas stood on her left, gently dabbing a cool cloth against her forehead.
“Push, Sarah!” the doctor encouraged softly. “You’re doing wonderfully, sweetheart! One more big push!”
“I can’t...” Sarah sobbed, her strength completely depleted after hours of trauma, cold, and heartbreak. “I’m so tired, Alex... I can’t do it...”
Alexander leaned down, his voice trembling with an emotion he had hidden from the world for twenty-three years.
“You can, Sarah,” he whispered, squeezing her hand. “Look at me. You survived growing up without us. You survived being cast aside by monsters. You are a Morgan. You are the strongest person I have ever known. Push for your daughter, Sarah. Push, and I promise you, no one will ever hurt either of you again.”
Nicholas leaned in close, his tough face softening completely. “Do it, little sister. Your brothers are right here. We’re holding the door shut against the world.”
Sarah looked into the eyes of the two boys who had promised to protect her when she was a child in foster care. The boys who had finally come back for her.
She drew a deep, ragged breath, closed her eyes, and pulled on every ounce of strength remaining in her soul.
A minute later, a sharp, clear, beautiful cry rang through the delivery suite.
“It’s a girl!” the doctor announced with a broad smile, quickly cleaning the baby and wrapping her in a warm pink blanket. “A healthy, perfect baby girl!”
The doctor gently placed the infant onto Sarah’s chest.
Sarah looked down at the tiny, delicate creature resting against her skin. Dark hair. Tiny, perfect fingers. A soft, tiny cry that echoed like music in the quiet room.
Tears spilled freely down Sarah’s cheeks, but for the first time in years, they were not tears of pain.
“She’s perfect,” Sarah whispered, her thumb gently stroking her daughter's velvet-soft cheek.
Alexander looked down at his niece, a soft, rare smile breaking across his usually stern face. He reached out a finger, and the tiny baby immediately wrapped her entire hand around it.
Alexander’s breath caught in his throat.
“What are you going to name her, Sarah?” Nicholas asked gently, leaning over the bed, his thumb wiping a tear from his sister's cheek.
Sarah looked up at her brothers, her heart feeling fuller than it ever had in her life.
“Hope,” Sarah said softly. “Hope Morgan.”
“Not Wellington?” Alexander asked gently.
May you like
“No,” Sarah said, her voice growing surprisingly firm, the vulnerability melting away into an unshakeable strength. “She will never bear the name of a coward. She is a Morgan.”
Alexander nodded slowly, his eyes flashing with a quiet, dangerous resolve. “She is a Morgan. And tomorrow... the world will learn what happens to those who dare touch a daughter of our house.”
