Chapter 10 - NEW BEGINNINGS

Three weeks later, on a warm, clear Tuesday morning, Ellie went into labor.
Unlike the terrifying, chaotic hospital visit months prior, this moment was filled with calm joy and anticipation. I drove her to the maternity hospital with steady hands, holding her hand through every contraction. Aunt Eleanor and David were right behind us in the waiting room.
The labor was long, but Ellie was an absolute pillar of strength.
At 4:15 PM, the sound of a loud, healthy cry echoed through the delivery room.
"It's a boy!" the doctor announced, smiling brightly as he placed the newborn baby onto Ellie's chest.
I burst into tears of pure joy, kneeling beside the bed and wrapping my arms around both of them. Ellie was exhausted, her skin glowing in the soft afternoon light, tears of joy streaming down her cheeks as she cradled our son.
He had a mop of dark hair, bright blue eyes, and a loud, healthy voice that filled the room with life.
"He's perfect," Ellie whispered, her fingers gently stroking his tiny cheek. "He's completely perfect."
"What are we going to name him?" I asked, my voice cracking with emotion.
Ellie looked up at me, her eyes brimming with love and wisdom.
"Arthur," she said softly. "Arthur Vance Salazar. Named after a brave man who tried to protect his family, and honored by the new generation that will thrive."
My heart swelled with overwhelming love. My father’s name would not be remembered for the tragedy of his death, but for the legacy of life and hope carrying forward in his grandson.
An hour later, Aunt Eleanor and David stepped into the room. When Eleanor saw little Arthur wrapped in a warm yellow blanket, she broke down in tears of happiness. She held her grand-nephew gently in her arms, rocking him back and forth.

"He looks just like your father, Adrian," Eleanor whispered, her voice trembling with sweet emotion. "He has Arthur's eyes."
"He's going to grow up in a home full of love, Aunt Eleanor," I said firmly. "No secrets. No fear. Just love."
