Chapter 5 - The Humiliation of Jessica

While the Morrison men were being systematically dismantled in the executive suites, Jessica Vance was finding out exactly what happens when you mock the person who signs your paycheck.

Jessica worked as an junior account manager in our high-end public relations firm, an agency entirely subsidized by Sovereign Group. She had spent the last six months using her relationship with Brendan to bully her co-workers, boasting that she would soon be the mistress of the Morrison estate.

At 10:30 AM, Jessica was summoned to the main lobby of the corporate tower. She arrived wearing an expensive designer coat, looking frantic as she tried to check her phone, which had been disconnected from the corporate network hours before.

The lobby was packed with hundreds of employees, interns, and visiting clients. Standing in the center of the polished marble floor was a large, grey industrial plastic bucket, filled to the brim with dirty, ice-cold water from the maintenance basement. Beside it stood two corporate security guards and the head of human resources.

"What is this?" Jessica asked, her voice high and nervous as she saw the crowd watching her. "Why am I here?"

I walked out of the executive elevator, surrounded by my legal team and Marcus. The entire lobby went dead silent, the employees parting like the Red Sea as I approached.

"Jessica," I said smoothly, stopping a few feet away from her. "Yesterday, you told me that we didn't want my 'smell' ruining the expensive fabrics of the Morrison house. You also asked if I was calling a charity because it was Sunday."

"Cassidy... please," Jessica whispered, her face turning crimson as she realized every single one of her colleagues was filming her on their personal devices. "I didn't know. Brendan told me you were a nobody! He told me you were just an archivist!"

"A person's worth isn't determined by their title, Jessica," I said, my voice echoing through the massive glass atrium. "But your employment is. You are hereby terminated for hostile workplace behavior, harassment of executive personnel, and gross violation of corporate ethics."

The HR director stepped forward, handing her a brown cardboard box containing her personal items from her desk.

"And as for the bucket," I said, looking at the dirty, freezing water. "I considered giving you a taste of your own medicine. But unlike the Morrisons, I don't need to resort to childish cruelty to show my power. Marcus, take her security badge. And make sure she is blacklisted from every PR firm on the Eastern Seaboard."

Jessica grabbed her cardboard box, her eyes brimming with tears of absolute humiliation as she scrambled toward the glass exit doors, the sound of her colleagues' whispers and muffled laughter following her into the cold street.
