Chapter 10 - The Horizon

The sun sank low over the Caribbean, casting a long, golden trail across the calm ocean water.

I sat on the white sand at the edge of the shore, my bare feet washed by the soft, warm foam of the gentle tide.

In the distance, the lights of the villa flickered on, casting a warm, inviting glow over the palm trees, while the sound of music, laughter, and clinking glasses drifted softly across the beach.

I held a glass of ice-cold champagne in my hand, watching the evening stars begin to appear one by one in the deep indigo sky above.

My phone, resting on a small wooden side table beside my sun chair, chimed once with a short text message from Arthur Sterling.

TEXT FROM ARTHUR: "Final asset redistribution cleared today. $1.8 million recovered from Marcus's confiscated accounts has been deposited directly into the Aegis Foundation for Women in STEM. You won completely, Eleanor."

I smiled, taking a slow sip of the champagne.

I didn't reply to the text. I didn't need to.

The past was no longer a weight I carried on my shoulders. It was simply the dust beneath my heels as I walked forward into a future I had built with my own hands, my own mind, and my own unshakeable courage.

A gentle breeze blew off the water, lifting the hem of my white linen dress, cooling the warm skin of my face.

I looked out at the vast, open horizon—stretching out infinitely into the dark, beautiful night—and knew, with absolute, peaceful certainty...

The story was finally mine.
