Chapter 10 - The Promise Kept

The sun was setting slowly over the quiet hills of the Hail Estate, painting the sky in brilliant strokes of amber, pink, and deep violet.
On the peaceful bluff overlooking the Hudson River stood a beautiful marble memorial garden, surrounded by blooming white roses and tall oak trees.
A simple stone monument stood in the center, carved with the names: Eliza & Olivia Hail - Forever Loved, Never Forgotten.
Victor stood before the monument, holding a bouquet of fresh white lilies.
Beside him stood Sarah, her hand tucked comfortably into his arm. Lily and Leo stood on the other side, holding hands, looking at the quiet beauty of the sanctuary.
Victor laid the white lilies at the base of the stone. He looked up at the golden sky, feeling the cool evening breeze gently brush against his face.
"They would have loved you, Lily," Victor whispered softly to the wind. "They would have been so proud."
Lily wrapped her arms around Victor’s waist, leaning her head against his side, just as she had done ten years ago on the night they met.
"We are all together now, Dad," Lily whispered back, looking at the rose garden. "Always."
Victor looked down at his family—the mother he had saved, the son he was raising, and the daughter who had saved his soul.
