Chapter 3 - The Unmasking

"Olivia?!" Eleanor gasped, taking three steps forward, her face flushed with a mixture of embarrassment and fury. "Where have you been?! Do you have any idea what you've done?! Look at this table! There's no food!"

"I know," Olivia said, looking her mother straight in the eyes without flinching. "I didn't make any."

"You ungrateful little brat!" Richard barked, stepping up beside his wife, his face darkening into a terrifying shade of red. "You embarrassed your brother in front of his future employers! Get into that kitchen right now, pull whatever you can out of the freezer, and fix this!"

"No, Dad," Olivia said calmly. "I don't think I will."

Ryan rushed over, grabbing Olivia by her arm, his fingers digging in tightly. "Olivia! Stop playing games! My entire career is on the line tonight! You can ruin your own life if you want, but don't you dare ruin mine!"

"Let go of her arm, Ryan," Arthur Harrison commanded from the side of the room. His voice carried such sudden, absolute authority that Ryan instantly released his grip, staggering back a step.

Olivia adjusted her jacket sleeve, looking at her brother with deep, quiet pity.

"You don't have a career, Ryan," Olivia said softly. "You have a mountain of debt, a stolen resume, and a father who has been feeding you lies to keep your ego bloated while he used me as an unpaid line cook to hide his own financial failures."

"How dare you!" Richard yelled, slamming his hand onto the table. "I built this family! I provided for you! You brought nothing to this home except a mound of bills for your useless cooking school!"

"My culinary school that I paid for myself through night shifts and student loans, Dad?" Olivia countered, her voice ringing clear across the silent room. "The cooking school you told everyone was a 'hobby' while you secretly submitted my menu blueprints to the local bank to secure your commercial credit lines?"

Olivia opened her briefcase, pulling out a thick stack of legal documents and laying them next to Arthur Harrison’s folder.

"These are certified copies of Grandfather Edward’s original 2018 probate filings," Olivia announced.

Eleanor gasped, her hand flying to her mouth, her face turning pale as paper. "Richard... what is she doing?!"

"Grandpa Edward left his entire sixty-acre commercial parcel on 8th Street, along with a three-million-dollar liquid trust, to me," Olivia explained, looking directly at the Harrison Culinary Group executive board. "He left it to me because he knew I was the only one in this family willing to work with my own hands. But my father filed a fraudulent power-of-attorney claim while Grandpa was in hospice care, appointing himself sole trustee."

"She’s lying!" Richard shouted, his hands shaking violently as he tried to grab the papers. "She’s insane! She’s trying to destroy us!"

"I’m not lying, Dad," Olivia said gently. "Because ten minutes ago, my attorney filed an emergency injunction with the County Chancery Court, freezing all assets under the Parker Family Trust—including the commercial properties you pledged to Harrison Culinary Group to back Ryan’s promotion."

Arthur Harrison picked up the documents, scanning them with practiced, razor-sharp eyes. A tight, satisfied smile touched the corners of his lips.

"It seems your business pitch was entirely fraudulent, Richard," Harrison said, turning his cold gaze upon the patriarch. "You pledged assets you didn't own to back a manager who can't even boil water without his sister."

"Mr. Harrison! Please!" Ryan pleaded, dropping to his knees near the table, panic tearing through his voice. "We can fix this! Olivia will sign a waiver! She has to! She’s my sister!"

Olivia looked down at her brother kneeling on the floor, the same brother who four hours ago texted her “Don't be dramatic” while she was packing her life into two suitcases.

"I don't owe you anything anymore, Ryan," Olivia said softly. "Not a meal. Not my trust fund. And certainly not my life."

She turned toward Arthur Harrison and bowed her head respectfully. "Mr. Harrison, I believe you have a business proposal to review regarding a new concept in Chicago."

"Indeed I do, Chef Parker," Harrison smiled, motioning toward the door with his arm. "My car is waiting outside. Let's leave these gentlemen to enjoy their empty kitchen."
