Chapter 9 - THE TRUST RECONSTRUCTED

Six months later.

Spring had arrived in New England, transforming the grounds of the Greenwich estate into a breathtaking canvas of blooming cherry blossoms, white tulips, and lush green lawns.

In the estate’s grand conservatory, a private ceremony was taking place.

It was not a corporate press event, nor was it a media spectacle. It was an intimate gathering of the people who truly mattered.

Harrison Vance was there, looking proud in a sharp charcoal suit, having been officially named the Senior Managing Partner of Roth Capital’s entire global legal division. Dr. Vance was there, chatting happily with Val, who had officially transitioned from tactical security chief to head of estate protection.

And standing near a sunlit floral arch overlooking the gardens were me and Dennis.

I wore a timeless, ivory silk gown that draped gracefully around my frame, with a simple lace veil that caught the gentle spring breeze. In my hands, I held a bouquet of white lilies and wild lavender.

Dennis stood beside me in a tailored black tuxedo, looking so impossibly handsome that my heart skipped a beat every time I looked into his warm silver-gray eyes.

Holding the velvet ring pillow was nine-month-old Julian Jr., who was being proudly held by Harrison as he cooed at the bright flowers.

The federal judge who had presided over the administrative clearance of the Dynasty Trust stood before us, reading the final decree.

“By the authority vested in me by the State of Connecticut,” the judge read with a warm smile, “and pursuant to the fully restructured bylaws of the Roth Dynasty Trust, I hereby certify the creation of the Julian Roth Educational and Protection Foundation.”

He looked up at us. “Under the new terms executed by Dennis Roth and Elsie Beaumont, fifty percent of the trust’s liquid equity will be permanently held in an independent educational fund for young survivors of family exploitation and domestic abuse, while the remaining half will be held in full guardianship for Julian Jr. until his twenty-fifth birthday.”

The judge closed his leather binder and looked at Dennis and me.

“And now, by the power vested in me, I pronounce you husband and wife. Dennis, you may kiss your bride.”

Dennis didn't wait a fraction of a second.

He pulled me into his broad, powerful arms, dipping me slightly, and pressed his lips to mine in a deep, passionate, breathtaking kiss that brought a roar of applause and cheers from the small crowd in the conservatory.

As he pulled back, resting his forehead against mine, he whispered softly, “You are a Roth now, Mrs. Beaumont-Roth. And nobody will ever threaten you again.”

“I know,” I whispered back, kissing his cheek. “Because we’re unbreakable.”
