Chapter 6 - RECLAIMING THE ESTATE

Three weeks later, the legal proceedings regarding the Vance Estate reached their final conclusion.
Through the overwhelming evidence compiled by Sarah Lin and Thomas Sterling, the chancery court officially stripped Arthur Vance of all legal rights to the trust, dissolved his corporate management contracts, and transferred 100% of the remaining assets, real estate holdings, and liquid funds directly to me.
I was now the sole owner of the Vance Estate, valued at over $32 million.
On a crisp autumn afternoon, a luxury car driven by Thomas pulled up to the iron gates of my father's—now my—suburban mansion.
The gates swung open smoothly. The grand brick house, with its manicured lawns and sweeping driveway, stood quiet and empty.
Rachel and Mark had been given a court-ordered 48-hour notice to vacate the premises after the house was officially returned to the trust.
As I stepped out of the car, leaning gently on a single, new wooden cane provided by my physical therapist, I saw three large moving vans parked near the front entrance.
Rachel was standing on the front porch, packing cardboard boxes into the back of a beaten-up rental truck. She looked completely ruined. Her designer clothes had been replaced by cheap sweatpants, her hair was unstyled, and her eyes were dark with exhaustion.
Mark was sitting on the porch steps, holding his head in his hands.
When Rachel saw me walking up the driveway with Thomas, her eyes flashed with a final, desperate burst of venom.
"Are you happy now, Clara?!" Rachel yelled, tossing a box onto the driveway. "You took everything! You threw your father in prison, you destroyed my business, and you’re kicking us out onto the street! Liam has to go to public school now! Is this your revenge?!"
I walked up the porch steps, stopping a few feet away from her. I didn't feel angry anymore. I felt entirely powerful, calm, and detached.
"You pushed me into a cake, Rachel," I said softly. "You called me a monster, you laughed while my father beat me, and you told me I deserved it. You thought because I was quiet, I was weak. You thought because I was hurt, I would never fight back."
"We’re family!" Rachel sobbed, her arrogance finally shattering completely into desperate weeping. "How can you do this to your own brother and nephew?!"
"Family doesn't bleed you dry and laugh at your pain," I replied calmly. "Mark."
Mark slowly raised his head, looking up at me with hollow eyes.
"The trust will establish a small, restricted educational fund for Liam’s tuition," I said, looking at my nephew's father. "The money will be paid directly to his school. Neither you nor Rachel will ever touch a single cent of it. As for this house... it is being put on the market tomorrow."
"Where are we supposed to go?" Mark whispered.
"That is no longer my concern," I said. "You have one hour to take your personal clothes and clear off my property. If you are still here at 4:00 PM, the sheriffs will arrest you for criminal trespassing."
May you like
Rachel opened her mouth to scream another insult, but Mark reached out, pulled her arm down, and quietly shook his head. He knew it was over. The reign of tyranny was finished.
I turned around, walked into the grand foyer of the mansion, and closed the heavy oak doors behind me, leaving them to face the cold reality of the world they had created.
