Chapter 9 - The Foundation of Hope

One year later.
The Texas sun shone brightly over a beautiful, sprawling park outside Dallas, Texas.
A giant blue ribbon was stretched across the entrance of a newly constructed, state-of-the-art facility called Ethan’s Safe Haven: Pediatric Allergy Research & Emergency Response Center.
After the story of Ethan’s survival made national headlines, the insurance company that had been targeted by Jennifer's fraud scheme, along with several major medical device manufacturers, established a five-million-dollar charitable endowment in Ethan's name.
The foundation was created to:
Provide free, authentic epinephrine autoinjectors to low-income families across Texas.
Develop tamper-evident security cases for pediatric allergy medication.
Fund specialized training for emergency responders and school nurses.
I stood on the outdoor stage wearing a red dress, holding a microphone in front of two hundred guests, including medical professionals, local families, and news crews.
David stood beside me, holding a framed certificate of appreciation from the Texas Department of Health.
"Two years ago," I addressed the crowd, my voice filled with warmth and conviction, "my family faced a nightmare that almost ended my son's life. But out of that darkness, we chose to build light."
The crowd applauded warmly.
"Today, Ethan’s Safe Haven has already distributed over ten thousand free autoinjectors to schools across the state," I continued. "No child should ever suffer because they don't have access to life-saving medicine, and no parent should ever have to fear for their child's safety."
I turned to the side of the stage. "And now, I'd like to introduce our Chief Junior Ambassador!"
Six-year-old Ethan walked out onto the stage, wearing a small suit jacket and red sneakers, waving enthusiastically to the crowd.
The audience erupted into a standing ovation.
Ethan ran over to me, grabbed my hand, and grinned up at the microphone.

"Always check your EpiPen!" Ethan declared proudly into the mic, making the entire crowd laugh and cheer.
I leaned down and kissed his cheek, my heart overflowing with peace.
