Chapter 8 - The Renewal of Reed Logistics

By the following spring, the grey shadows that had once hung over Reed Logistics were completely washed away.

Under Nathaniel’s direct leadership—and with a newly appointed board of directors comprised of ethical, forward-thinking industry leaders—the company launched the Evelyn Reed Maritime Safety Foundation, allocating twenty million dollars annually to protect coastal ecosystems and ensure absolute transparency in international shipping.

On a bright Tuesday morning, the executive boardroom on the eightieth floor of the Reed Tower in Manhattan was filled with sunlight.

Nathaniel sat at the head of the long glass conference table, looking distinguished and relaxed.

Sitting to his right was me.

Over the past six months, with Nathaniel’s full encouragement and financial support, I had completed my professional certifications in corporate auditing and human resources management, officially stepping into my new role as the Director of Employee Welfare and Operational Ethics for Reed Logistics.

"The new childcare stipend program for all terminal workers has been fully approved by the board, Director Delgado," the Chief Financial Officer announced with a warm smile, sliding a leather folder across the table toward me.

I signed my name at the bottom of the document with a proud, confident stroke. "Thank you, Arthur. No parent working for this company should ever have to choose between keeping their job and taking care of their child."

Nathaniel looked at me from across the table, his eyes filled with an undeniable, glowing pride that made my heart swell.

After the meeting concluded and the board members exited the room, Nathaniel walked over to my chair, leaning down to rest his hands on the armrests, trapping me in a gentle, intimate embrace.

"You are incredible, do you know that?" Nathaniel murmured, leaning close to kiss my lips softly.

"I learned from the best," I teased, wrapping my arms around his neck.

"Eli and Sophia are waiting downstairs with Marcus," Nathaniel smiled, checking his watch. "The architect is waiting for us at the estate."

I raised an eyebrow. "The architect?"

Nathaniel’s eyes sparkled with a secret delight. "You’ll see."
