Chapter 10 - The Garden of Light

Six months later.
Spring had arrived in Boston. The rose gardens of the Hanover Street estate were in full, brilliant bloom, filled with white blossoms and the sweet scent of lavender.
The heavy iron gates of the estate were opened wide.
Inside the garden, two hundred guests—a mixture of city officials, neighborhood families, and loyal Moretti staff—sat in white wooden chairs along a carpet of rose petals.
Standing at the altar near the marble fountain was Dominic, looking impossibly handsome in a tailored black tuxedo, his eyes fixed on the rear garden doors. Beside him stood Marco as his best man, and seven-year-old Micah, dressed in a matching little tuxedo, holding the velvet box containing the wedding bands.
The string quartet began to play a soft, soaring melody.
The grand oak doors opened.
Little Sienna walked down the aisle first, wearing a pink lace dress, tossing white rose petals from a basket, her face beaming with pure happiness.
Then came Belle.
She wore a breathtaking white silk gown that draped gracefully over her figure, her dark gold hair styled in soft waves adorned with small white roses. Around her neck rested the silver Saint Michael medallion Dominic had given Micah on the night they met.
She didn't walk alone. Walking beside her, holding her arm with fierce pride, was Maria, the elderly housekeeper who had become like a mother to her.
As Belle reached the altar, Dominic stepped down to take her hand. His hands, usually so steady and lethal, trembled slightly as he looked at his bride.
"You are breathtaking, Mrs. Moretti," Dominic whispered softly.
"You don't look so bad yourself, Mr. Moretti," Belle teased gently back, her blue eyes shining with tears of joy.
The priest began the ceremony, his voice carrying over the gentle rustle of the spring leaves.
"We are gathered here today to unite two souls who were brought together not by wealth or power, but by the courage of a child and the strength of a mother's love," the priest declared.
When it came time for the vows, Dominic looked straight into Belle’s eyes, holding both her hands in his.
"Belle," Dominic spoke, his deep voice resounding through the quiet garden. "You walked into my life when it was dark and cold. You taught me that strength isn't about the power you hold over others, but the love you are willing to protect. I promise to cherish you, honor you, and shield you and Micah for as long as I draw breath."
Belle smiled through her tears, squeezing his hands tight. "Dominic, you gave my son and me a home when the world had turned its back on us. You showed me that behind the shadows of this city lived a man with a heart of gold. I give you my life, my trust, and my eternal love."
"By the power vested in me," the priest announced, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Dominic, you may kiss your bride."
Dominic pulled Belle into his arms, dipping her slightly as he pressed his lips to hers in a deep, passionate kiss that brought the entire garden to its feet, cheering and clapping in joyous celebration.
As they walked back up the aisle together, hand in hand, with Micah and Sienna running ahead of them through the shower of rose petals, Belle looked up at the warm spring sky.
The basement floor, the cold rain, the cruel landlord—all of it was gone, replaced by the unbreakable warmth of a real family.
