Chapter 6 - The Fall of the Syndicate

The masked man slowly pulled down his mask, revealing Vincent’s top enforcer, Marco.
Behind Marco, the doors opened, and Vincent himself stepped out from the hallway, flanked by three men. His face was pale, his eyes manic with desperation.
"Naomi," Vincent breathed, looking at the armed security guards surrounding her. "You set a trap."
"No, Vincent," Naomi said, setting her teacup down with a soft click. "You walked into your own grave."
She tapped a button on her tablet screen. On the wall monitor, a live audio and video feed began playing. It showed federal agents from the FBI and the Department of Justice raiding the Caruso Syndicate’s headquarters in North Chicago at that exact moment.
Vincent’s heart sank into his stomach. "What did you do?!"
"For five years, Vincent, I lived in your home," Naomi said, her voice dripping with calm authority. "You thought I was sitting at home painting or choosing flowers. You didn't realize I was listening to every late-night phone call, reading every invoice left on your desk, and keeping detailed ledgers of your family's illegal money laundering routes."
Vincent gasped, taking a staggering step back.
"I handed those ledgers over to the United States Attorney's Office three hours ago," Naomi continued. "In exchange for complete immunity for my estate and full federal protection for my children."
Outside the hospital, sirens began to wail, echoing through the night air. Red and blue lights flashed against the glass windows of the NICU hallway.
"FBI! Nobody move!" a loud voice echoed down the corridor as tactical federal officers swarmed the floor, rifles raised.
Vincent’s men instantly dropped their weapons, hands raised in the air.
Vincent stood frozen, looking at Naomi.
"Naomi..." Vincent whimpered, tears of absolute panic finally filling his eyes. "Please... I’m the father of your children... you can't do this to me..."
Naomi walked up to him, stopping right before the federal agents pinned him to the floor.
She leaned in close, her voice a soft, cold whisper that only he could hear.
"When I was lying in that hospital bed, screaming in pain, calling you while my children were coming eight weeks early... you left me alone. You told me Bianca had nobody, but I was 'different.'"
May you like
She looked down at him as the agents forced him onto his knees, pulling his arms behind his back and clicking iron handcuffs onto his wrists.
"Now you have nobody, Vincent," Naomi whispered. "And you are going to learn what that feels like."
