Chapter 10 - Home

That evening, a soft, quiet rain began to fall over Pinecrest Heights—the same gentle drizzle that had covered the mansion six years ago when a brave, soaked little girl had walked up to the front door carrying a black trash bag.
Spencer stood by the large bay window in the living room, holding a cup of tea, watching the rain droplets slide down the glass.
Behind him, the living room was filled with the warm, comforting glow of the fireplace. Charlee and Dexter were sitting on the thick rug, playing a board game, their cheerful laughter echoing off the high wood-paneled walls.
Mrs. Mabel was in the kitchen humming a soft tune as she prepared dinner, the sweet scent of roasting vegetables and fresh bread drifting through the house.
There were no shadows left in the corners of Pinecrest. No hidden letters, no locked ledgers, no traitors waiting in the dark. The dark legacy of the past had been thoroughly burned away, replaced by something real, enduring, and pure.
Spencer turned away from the window, walking over to the fire to sit beside his children on the rug.
Dexter looked up, smiling broadly as he handed Spencer a wooden game piece. "Your turn, Dad!"
Dad.
The word still brought a deep, quiet thrill to Spencer’s heart every time he heard it—a reminder of the incredible journey that had transformed a cold, isolated billionaire into a father.

"My turn," Spencer agreed with a warm, genuine smile, taking the piece and setting it on the board.
Outside, the rain continued to fall softly against the glass, but inside the mansion, wrapped in the unbreakable warmth of love, family, and truth, they were completely, wonderfully home.
